On October 29th, the Forum of the Population Theory and Policy Committee of the Chinese Population Association and the International Academic Symposium on The Second Demographic Transition and Innovation of Social Security System jointly sponsored by the Population Theory and Policy Committee of the Chinese Population Association and Anhui University of Finance and Economics was successfully held at our university. More than 150 experts, scholars, teachers and students from over 30 universities and research institutes including Renmin University of China, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Beijing Normal University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, University of New South Wales, and Chinese Academy of Social Sciences participated in the online seminar. The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Chu Deyin, Dean of School of Finance and Public Administration, Anhui University of Finance and Economics. Professor Zhu Hongjun, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Vice President of the university, Professor Zhai Zhenwu, President of the Chinese Population Association and Professor of Renmin University of China, and Professor Mi Hong, Director of the Population Theory and Policy Committee of the Chinese Population Association and Professor of Public Management School of Zhejiang University attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Zhu Hongjun pointed out that the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was successfully concluded and sounded the trumpet of promoting the comprehensive modernization of the Chinese nation. Chinese-style modernization provides a new choice for human modernization, and the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people have provided more and better Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions for solving common problems facing humanity. Population transformation and social security policy adjustment have always been worldwide problems. The purpose of this conference is to focus on population and social security issues, and to seek long-term balanced development of the population and high-quality development of social security. As experts and scholars in the field of population and social security, we should take the spirit of the 20th National Congress as a guide and further study and improve the social security system.

Zhai Zhenwu pointed out that the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China once again raised the issue of population, and the characteristics, process and problems of Chinese-style modernization were determined by the population. The Chinese population has undergone tremendous changes in the past 20 years, and the solution of population transformation and its problems fully reflect Chinese characteristics and Chinese road. There is still great theoretical innovation space for further improving and optimizing the population development strategy. Mi Hong pointed out that the research on the second demographic transition and the innovation and development of the social security system with Chinese characteristics should be carried out in the background of the research and analysis of the population scale, structure, quality, distribution and frequency, intensity, complexity and correlation of population economic and social activities faced by Chinese-style modernization, and based on problem-oriented + target-oriented as the starting and ending points of the research, deep cross-disciplinary academic exploration and systematic research should be carried out.

The keynote report phase of the conference was hosted by Vice Dean Peng Xianmei. The keynote speeches were given by Professor Gu Baochang, Distinguished Research Fellow of the Aging Research Institute, Fudan University, Professor Shi Renbing, Director of the Population Research Institute, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Professor Bei Lu, Director of External Affairs, Asian Population Aging Research Center, University of New South Wales, Professor Chen Wei, Professor of the School of Sociology and Demography, Renmin University of China, Associate Dean Ding Zhihong of the School of Sociology and Psychology, Central University of Finance and Economics, and Associate Professor Feng Guanggang of the School of Finance and Public Administration, Anhui University of Finance and Economics, respectively, on important issues of research on the second demographic transition and social security.

The seminar phase of the conference included a round-table forum and 5 parallel sub-forums, covering topics such as the reshaping of rural social values in Chinese-style modernization, the second demographic transition and the labor market, the second demographic transition and marriage and childbirth, the second demographic transition and the one elderly, one juvenile policy, the second demographic transition and social security, and the second demographic transition and social development.

The holding of this conference fully implements the important spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's report at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China on Chinese-style modernization is modernization with a huge population scale and establishing a policy system for supporting childbirth and implementing a national strategy for actively responding to population aging, deeply explores the institutional advantages of Chinese-style socialism, and solves the worldwide problem of demographic changes and social security policy adjustment, spreading the voice of China and telling the story of China.
