Founded in 2005, the School of Finance and Public Administration currently boasts two disciplines of finance and taxation and public administration. The college offers 5 undergraduate subjects, 1 master’s degree program of first-level discipline, 6 academic master’s degree programs of second-level discipline and 2 professional master’s degree programs.

Finance and taxation was rated as a B-class key discipline in Anhui Province in 2008. The subject of finance took its current form in 1959 when the Anhui University of Finance & Economics (AUFE) was established. Now it is the national first-class undergraduate subject construction site (2019), national characteristic subject (2008), Anhui education reform demonstration subject (2005), Anhui comprehensive reform pilot subject (2016), Anhui brand (characteristic) subject (2017) and Anhui first-class undergraduate talent demonstration leading base (2019). As an off catalog subject, taxation first began to recruit students in 1994, which was later incorporated into finance due to the adjustment of subject catalog of the Ministry of Education, and then resumed enrollment in 2006. Now it is the first-class undergraduate subject construction site in Anhui Province (2019) and the provincial comprehensive reform pilot subject in Anhui Province (2015). The master’s degree program of finance (including taxation) was approved in 1986, which is one of the first four master’s degree programs in our university. In addition, the professional master’s degree of taxation, approved in 2010, is one of the first batch of master’s programs in China.

Public administration, as a key discipline supported by AUFE in recent years, has three undergraduate subjects, namely, administrative management, labor and social security and land resource management. The subject of labor and social security is now the national first-class undergraduate subject construction site (2019) and Anhui comprehensive reform pilot subject (2015). Administrative management is now the first-class professional construction site in Anhui Province (2020), and land resource management is a brand major of AUFE (2018). At present, the college has a master’s degree program of public administration, under which four academic master’s degree programs (administrative management, social security, education economics management and land resource management) and a professional master’s degree program of public administration (MPA) were set up.

The master’s degree program of social security, administrative management, education economics management, land resource management,  labor economics and MPA commenced recruiting in 2006, 2010, 2012, 2019, 2002 and 2017 respectively.

The college attaches great importance to academic development of its faculty. Currently, the college is home to 62 full-time teachers, including 18 professors, 26 associate professors and 53 doctors (including doctoral students). Among the full-time teachers, there is 1 doctoral tutor and 42 master tutors. There is 1 member of the Teaching Steering Committee of finance major of the Ministry of Education, 1 expert with special allowance from the State Council, 1 distinguished professor of “Wanjiang scholars” in Anhui Province, 2 academic and technological pioneers in Anhui Province, 2 reserve candidates for academic and technological pioneers in Anhui Province, 2 top-notch talents in disciplines (majors) of colleges and universities in Anhui Province, and 7 talents in excellent young top-notch talents plan of colleges and universities in Anhui Province, 3 distinguished teachers and 3 young promising teachers in Anhui Province. Furthermore, more than 50 part-time professors and practice tutors from other universities, research institutions and business departments are employed.

In recent years, staffs of the college have presided over 3 NSFC projects, 20 NSFC projects, and more than 100 provincial and ministerial projects, such as humanities and social science projects of the Ministry of Education, social science planning projects of Anhui Province and NSFC projects of Anhui Province. Up to now, the faculty has published 6 papers in Economic Research Journal and Journal of Management World, top domestic authoritative journals of economics and management. More than 50 papers have been released in China Economic Quarterly, The Journal of World Economy, China Industrial Economics, Finance & Trade Economics and other domestic well-known journals of economics and management. Over 300 papers have been published in SSCI、SCI、 CSSCI、 CSCD and other core journals, and over 30 papers have been reprinted in full text by Xinhua Wenzhai and Chinese Social Science Digest. More than 10 provincial and ministerial scientific research achievements awards from the Ministry of Finance and Anhui Provincial People’s government have been granted to the college. Since 2017, the college has won 88 provincial teaching quality engineering projects and 11 provincial teaching achievement awards.

In 2018 and 2020, the achievements of the faculty & students think tank were approved by the Party and state leaders respectively, and adopted by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the State Administration of Taxation, the People’s Government of Anhui Province, the Anhui Provincial Department of Finance, the Anhui Provincial Bureau of Taxation, the Anhui Provincial Department of Civil Affairs and other departments. The college has released the Research Report on Anhui Financial Development and Research on Anhui Labor and Social Security for 10 consecutive years.
